Glenuig Inn Community Buyout Extends Share Offer Deadline – Now Over £253,000 Raised!

Thanks to fantastic support from the local community and beyond, the Glenuig Inn Community Buyout has now raised £253,000 in community share offer applications – well beyond our minimum target of £200,000, and edging closer to our optimum target of £300,000.

To give more people the chance to take part – especially those who’ve shown interest recently – the community share offer deadline has been extended to 21st May.

Raising more through the share offer reduces our reliance on grant funding and social loans, giving the project greater financial resilience as we work to secure the future of the Glenuig Inn as a thriving, community-run asset.

Three Ways to Support the Buyout

1. Crowdfunder – Donate & Claim a Reward From embroidered beanies and organic hoodies to wooden dedication plaques and even an exclusive traditional music weekend, there are many ways to contribute and receive a unique reward in return. Donate now: www.glenuigcommunityinn.org

2. Community Share Offer – Own a Piece of the Inn Our Community Share Offer allows you to invest in the future of the Glenuig Community Inn. There are two types of membership:

Type A – Community Members: Local residents (from Alisary Burn to Dalnabreac Burn) can invest from £25 and will hold a majority vote.

Type B – Supporter Members: Open to non-residents and businesses, with a minimum investment of £2,000. Limited spaces available – group applications are welcome.Note: Pledging doesn’t mean paying immediately—funds will only be collected after the Share Offer closes.

3. Donations – Big or Small, Every Contribution Matters Not ready to buy shares? You can still make a one-off donation. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps bring us closer to securing the inn for the community.

FAQ: Why Is Type A Membership Limited to a Defined Area?

We’re often asked why Type A membership is restricted to residents between Alisary Burn and Dalnabreac Burn. This isn’t about exclusion—it’s a requirement of the Scottish Land Fund, which supports projects where local ownership remains in the majority. This ensures those who live in and rely on the inn daily have the strongest say in its future.

To keep things fair, every shareholder—regardless of how much they invest—gets one vote. Supporters from outside the area can still get involved through Type B membership. The higher minimum investment for Type B helps balance voting numbers and protect the principle of community-led ownership. Group applications are welcomed too!
